What can I add to Smelted Aluminuin to make it not as hard?
I have been playing around with a home foundry and made a few aluminum ingots ( soon a pulley wheel) The ingots I made were very hard, not easy to work with like soft aluminum from factory made products(in which I scraped the aluminum) this hard aluminum does not mill as easily
Is there anything I can add to the melt to get a softer end product?
You shouldn't need to add anything to the aluminum. Instead, you should be gradually cooling the aluminum over a long period of time. Just like with any metal, the faster aluminum is cooled, the harder it becomes.
