Do I have the right to ask my landlord for reimbursement on my furniture that he caused damage to?
I live in an apartment complex in Pleasanton, CA. Today I noticed that my carpet was wet for no apparent reason. After inspection from the maintenance team, they said there was a leaky valve outside my unit that's been dripping on the wall and it soaked the wooden walls/floor which in the end soaked the carpet and the 2 shelves I have placed over the area. Now the 2 shelves have cracks and mold grown on the base due to the water damage. Do I have the right to ask for reimbursement or make a claim for property damage? Or am I out of luck and have to eat up the cost? How should I approach this?
yes...you have the right to ask, and you have a good case, get receipts and/or comparables values to replace and take them to him....but...he has the right to say no
