What is the stick coming out of my wheel hub on my 91' Volvo 940 GLE?
So I want to buy new rims for my car except there is a stick of some sort coming out of my hub that goes through my rim in between two of the lug nuts. Does anyone know what this is? I don't want to buy new rims and then have to either cut this off or drill a whole through a new rim.
Firstly, let me let you know that pin is there for a reason. Actually it's there for two reasons. Reason one, that pin holds your rotor on when the wheels are off the car. Reason two, the pin is there so the rims go on the car a specific way.
You can remove the pin, and replace it with another screw that fits if you like.
If you are ordering rims specifically for 940 they should fit just fine with the pin there. If you are getting aftermarket rims, they should come with a hardware kit for your car. The kit should include all components to make the rims fit right.
